October Paddler Tattler

By Dian Lawhon, Newsletter Editor and Communications Chair.

The long awaited and carefully planned 50th Anniversary Celebration  on September 9th brought together current, former and legacy TVCC members for a fun day of paddling the Hiwassee, eating great BBQ, and sharing memories.  John Kern captured club history via an awesome video, and professional photographer Dan Henry got great photos of everyone and everything, including race winners, presentations, and legacy members.

October is ramping up to be a VERY busy month highlighted by the Tennessee River clean-up on October 7th and the Ocoee River Race on October 14th.   Flatwater, Whitewater, and Overnight paddles continue as well as the opportunity to attend the ACA National Paddlesports Conference October 18th-22nd.  The newsletter also contains information on accessing the TVCC member directory and TVCC’s receipt of an ACA National Level Award.  Of course, articles on TVCC history are also included.    Roll practice begins in November at UTC and continues through March.  Be sure and put that on your calendar as it will be here before you know it.

Last but not least, please check out TVCC sponsors including Jackson Kayak, who is highlighted this month.

The Paddler Tattler is a monthly newsletter highlighting recent activities and upcoming events of the Tennessee Valley Canoe Club. Established in 1967, the Tennessee Valley Canoe Club turns 50 years old in 2017.  The Club brings together those interested in canoeing, kayaking, and related activities; to increase the knowledge, safety and appreciation of paddle sports; and to support conservation and preservation of recreational waterways.
