White Water Paddlers Keeping Busy in February

Cold weather doesn’t deter TVCC whitewater paddlers as they wrapped up January with several paddles and are ready to take on several more in February.  Although there is no official club trip this weekend, February 4th, members are encouraged to post paddling plans on the TVCC Google Forum or TVCC Kayaking Facebook page and invite others to join in on your paddling plans.

Weather and water dependent, whitewater paddlers hope to paddle in the Gatlinburg, Tennessee area on Saturday, February 11th.  Anyone wanting to participate needs to contact David McConnell, at 865-207-9607, prior to this trip and confirm the scheduled trip time.

Two paddles are on the calendar for Saturday, February 18th.  One, the Cumberland Plateau Run, is located in Wartburg, Tennessee, with the exact river TBD, based on water and weather. Options will include: Crooked Fork, Island Creek, or Clear Creek and will be Class III/IV+.   The trip Leader is Randy Bigbee in conjunction with Chota Canoe Club.  You must contact him before participating in the trip.   For more information, contact: Stacy Stone, 423-443- 2175.

The second trip on the 18th is located on the Tellico Plains.  Contact Steve Crowell, 423 – 994-4732, if you are interested in attending this event.

On February 25th, Justin Quillen, 423-605-1085, is planning a Class III paddle on either Chairlift or Middle Tellico.  Please contact him in advance to confirm your participation and the scheduled trip time

As always, trips are weather and water dependent.
