Michelle Hollingsworth takes on TVCC Conservation Chair

Narrative and Photo by Michelle Hollingsworth

I joined TVCC in 2016, and attended my first Paddle School that same year. Due to work scheduling I was unable to paddle much that season. HOWEVER! This season I was able to hit the river running and went on almost all of the training trips. Which were AWESOME! Thank you to all who led and supported these trips. Thanks to YOU I have learned and improved tremendously! I still have a ways to go but as long as people are willing to teach, I’m willing to learn. I love paddling, hiking, traveling, camping, and have 2 dogs that are precious to me. I have met some amazing people through this club and look forward to many more years of being involved.

I am thankful for the opportunity to serve my club and fellow boaters by taking on the challenge of being this years’ Conservation Chair.  I hope to bring current information to our attention about water preservation, Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS), as well as spearhead a few river clean-ups for some of our favorite hot spots! If you have some suggestions on how we can better impact the paddling community via conservation efforts please feel free to reach out to me.  I welcome all the help you are willing to give and look forward to getting my hands dirty!
