This event is part of the summer training series after Paddle School. The training series is designed for beginner paddlers to practice and develop their skills to eventually run the Ocoee by the end of the season. They differ from Paddle School in that though no formal instruction takes place, the trips will have a trip leader and sufficient support boaters to assist in skills development. We will have fun, but this is not designed to be just a social gathering. We will work the river, not just cruise down it. Feel free to ask any questions.
We will meet at the parking lot by the takeout at Hiwassee Outfitters at 11:00am. Link to location https://goo.gl/maps/3NLFZMSbN163877R6. Please be on time because we will have a safety briefing. From there we will set up shuttle. Keep in mind that parking is $3/vehicle at the put in. Please contact Katey Neuffer at ikneuffer@gmail.com to let her know you are coming by Wednesday before the trip.
Registration opens on Sunday, 6/5/22.

Extra trip attraction: the club is hosting a Summer Party for all club members the same day, Aug 6 at 6PM, at Quest Expeditions Rafting Company, Ocoee, TN. We will have food, music, fun and games, and plenty of socializing together. Go to this event page and register. We need you to register so there is enough food.
If registration has closed, you must email John Hubbard at johnhubbard46@yahoo.com with your name and total people count in your group. Please use "TVCC Party" as the subject. Registration for food closes Friday Aug 5 at noon.
Location
Quest Expeditions Rafting Company, 281 Highway 64, Ocoee, TN , NE corner of Highway 411, on way to Ocoee River, at the pavilion
Description
This is a summer get together of club members to have some fun, eat some food, and meet some other members of TVCC you may not already know. We will have catered hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings served at 6PM, listen to some music (more on who is coming soon), and play volleyball or disc gulf for the young (or any age) at heart. We will also get to know our club a little better. Three of our past officers will tell a couple of short and nice stories about when they were serving your club that they have fond memories of. Of course we will give you a look ahead to some more things the club has planned in the near future. Finally, we will have drinks and beer by the can available by our caterer Apricot Cafe for purchase if that is your thing. A flatwater trip on Parksville Lake and the ever favorite Lesser Wesser Messer Nantahala trip are happening on this same day. So come on these trips and then then cap off the day here at our Summer Party.

We will meet at the parking lot at USA Raft at 11:00am. Link to location https://g.page/usar-adventure-resort?share. Please be on time because we will have a safety briefing. Parking at USA Raft is $5/car. Because of the long shuttle, we will use the local shuttle service. How this works is a local person will take you, your boat, and gear to the put in so that way your car will be at the takeout at the end of the day. Cost is $25/shuttle driver, so please bring cash to split the costs. Because of the logistics for shuttle, the last day to register for this trip will be August 16. This will be enforced! This will allow us to get the appropriate number of shuttle drivers. Please contact Steven Adams at swrcourses@gmail.com to let him know you are coming by Wednesday before the trip.

Chattanooga Paddlefest is an organized, recreational people-powered paddle event to celebrate Chattanooga as a cohort river town of the Tennessee RiverLine Partnership. The Tennessee RiverLine, North America’s next great regional trail system, flows through Chattanooga’s vibrant downtown. The event welcomes kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards to paddle a 5.4 mile stretch of the Tennessee River, from TN Riverpark to Ross’ Landing. Coordination with local rental companies provides additional opportunity to participate or bring your own personal paddle craft. Shuttles are provided to assist with parking logistics prior to the event start. The event is supported by Outdoor Chattanooga, a division of the City of Chattanooga’s Parks and Outdoors Department. A shuttle will be provided starting at 11 am for your boat.

Event in Detail: Spring is just around the corner, and that means Spring Fling at the Nantahala. This is a special weekend because they release water through the Cascades and Upper sections of the river. We will have an organized club trip on the Upper Nantahala. This is a class III stretch of river. It is easier than the Middle Ocoee, but it has more consequences. You should have been on the Ocoee a few times before going on the Upper Nantahala. When you register, the trip lead will make sure that you are ready for this trip. We will meet at the parking lot at Patton's run at 10am. We will then do a lap on the Upper section. Afterwards, we will drive down to Nantahala Falls and take inflatables down Lesser Wesser. These plans are tentative and are subject to change.

ACE Kayaking, the premier kayaking school in the Southeast, is offering several group clinics exclusively for TVCC members this season. The first clinic is an introduction to creeking. This is a class designed for beginners. This is a great opportunity to learn proper technique and good habits before Paddle School. The class will be taught on the Cartecay River by Joe Gudger. You must be a TVCC member in order to attend. Meet at the parking lot at Cartecay River Experience-River Left (aka Woody's) at 4:00pm. Link to location Cartecay River Experience - River Left. Go straight for a mile and Woody's will be on your left. Contact the training officer, Carl Schoonover, at training@tvccpaddler.com if you have any questions. You must register online. Contacting a board member or ACE Kayaking will not count as registering for the event.

You must be a TVCC member in order to attend, or you may register as a one time guest. Direct all questions to the trip leader or the training officer (training@tvccpaddler.com).
We will meet at the parking lot by the takeout at Hiwassee Outfitters at 11:00am. Link to location Hiwassee Outfitters. Please be on time because we will have a safety briefing.
