Whitewater Training Trip #1-Hiwassee (Apalachia Powerhouse to Bridge at Reliance)
hide

This event is part of the summer training series after Paddle School. The training series is designed for beginner paddlers to practice and develop their skills to eventually run the Ocoee by the end of the season. They differ from Paddle School in that though no formal instruction takes place, the trips will have a trip leader and sufficient support boaters to assist in skills development. We will have fun, but this is not designed to be just a social gathering. We will work the river, not just cruise down it. You must be a TVCC member in order to attend, or you may register as a one time guest. Direct all questions to the trip leader or the training officer (training@tvccpaddler.com).

We will meet at the parking lot by the takeout at Hiwassee Outfitters at 11:00am. Link to location Hiwassee Outfitters. Please be on time because we will have a safety briefing. From there we will set up shuttle. Keep in mind that parking is $3/vehicle at the put in. Please contact Terry Smith at smitho@aol.com to let him know you are coming by Wednesday before the trip.

Registration opens on Monday, June 5 and closes at midnight prior to the trip.

How this works is a local person will take you, your boat, and gear in your car to the put in and drive your car back so that way your car will be at the takeout at the end of the day. Cost is $25/shuttle driver, so please bring cash to split the costs. Because of the logistics for shuttle, the last day to register for this trip will be August 15. This will be enforced! This will allow us to get the appropriate number of shuttle drivers. Please contact Carl Schoonover at training@tvccpaddler.com to let him know you are coming by Tuesday before the trip.

We will meet at the take out at 12:00pm. Link to location Big Creek Access - Ocoee Private Boater Takeout. Please be on time because we will have a safety briefing. From there we will set up shuttle. Please contact Joshua Harrison at harrison.joshua2001@gmail.com to let him know you are coming Thursday before the trip.

Registration opens Sunday, August 20 and closes at midnight prior to the trip.

This event is free to all TVCC membership in good standing and one time guests! If you are new to the TVCC then we would love for you to join us on this event. Please join our club or renew your membership. Joining is quick and easy and only $20 for individual and $25 for a family membership. You can join by clicking here.
